Hmm, while we are at it....why not!
If you are out in a field, even when there is no real storm, lightning cans
till strike. Actually lightning strikes to people are usually before a storm
even comes, or during good weather!
So, if you ever feel a tingling on your head, like static electricity in your
hair, making is stand up all of a sudden slightly. This is a sign that
lightning is "feeling" where to hit. The best thing to do is crouch down, sit
on your butt, and pull your knees in, and tuck your head in by your knees.
This makes you low and you take up less space, so reducing your chance of
getting struck. You do not want to be the highest place in the vicinity. Also
a car is a good place to go when lightning is near, not because of the rubber
tires, but because the metal the car is made of will carry the charge around
you. Just don't touch anything metal in the car.
As for tornadoes, well, I think you know, get into a basement, ditch,
underneath something really heavy like a car or truck (mainly to protect you
from debris, since a tornado could suck a car up easily).
Well anyway, just a few tips!
