Is my plant done for ?

My plant was growing real well until it started growing straight up in
the air.......
Today it fell over and now has a slight split  in the side of the main
vine about 3" long
and the vine is somewhat twisted ... The main vine is about 3 feet long,
the split is at
the 1 foot mark, plus the vine is slightly twisted also....I saw a
picture of shellys patch
and noticed a brick or something tied to her vine...Is there a purpose
to this...
  The plant is a 625 Kennedy and is really getting big for only 4 weeks
old, I would
sure hate to lose it... Any help would be greatly appreciated...
