PORT ELGIN PUMPKINFEST GPC SITE

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest is pleased to announce that Port Elgin's International Weigh Off Competition has been approved as an official GPC weigh off site. We recently applied for membership to this excellent organization and were unanimously approved by their steering committee. We are now the 22nd site across North America and the fifth site in Canada. With the joining of the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, our growers now have an increased prize package and their results will be listed in the official GPC statistics. Port Elgin's Weigh Off this year is on Sat. Oct. 6th and offers more than $40,000. in growers prizes. Pumpkin growers can win up to $15,000. Can. first prize at our site if their pumpkin is the heaviest in the world in 2001 and are guaranteed $3000. if they are the heaviest at Port Elgin that day.
Port Elgin Pumpkinfest is pleased with this new membership as it offers many benefits to our growers both in prize money and information. We are also pleased to be a founding member of the Giant Pumpkin Growers of Canada along with the Ottawa/ St. Lawrence site and encourage all growers to sign up now for our Annual Seminar in Guelph, Ontario on Sunday, April 1st.
More than 200 growers from across North America will be in attendance to network and hear speakers on a variety of topics. The past three years World Record Holders such as Dave Stelts, Gerry Checkon, and Gary Burke etc. have been in attendance along with many others from our 1000 pound Dream Team Group.
