Steady as she goes in NZ

A steady season so far. All pollination, feeding, pruning complete. Just a
case of pumping in the Copper to keep powdery and Downy Mildew at bay and
keeping the watering up.There are six decent pumpkins all around 2 - 300
pound mark. They are just about blue with the copper going in. I lost two
pumpkins due to fungal attack. It started off as a white patch and soon
killed off the pumpkin with dark centre in the middle of the white patch.

Just a case of pumping in the water now and watching them grow. I have not
had to cover the pumpkins from the sun as this season, there has been
spectacular leaf growth and the leaves are still keeping ample shade on the
pumpkins. The growth is such that I am keeping out the patch with my size 12
s as I will do more harm than good. About five weeks to weigh-off, April 8th
is the big day. Sorry - I do not know which pumpkins are which in terms of
crosses and which pollinated what as the pumkpins have well and truly
squashed the labels. I will be able to dig them out when the big day
arrives.
