Misters

Hello group

I came up with a misting control system for some deep rain forest chameleo parsoni from Madagascar. Their natural habitat had around 130" of rain per year and the temp would seldom exceed 80F. I set up a very low flow misting system to cool them. I think I had about 20 mist heads covering around 500 square feet in an outdoor cage. The total water consumption was around 1 gpm. I did not use any timers.

Instead I used a thermostat with a 15' copper wire with an external temperature bulb. It had a 2 degree historesis so it didn't bounce on and off or cycle too much. I set the set point for 84F and it did everything automatically. It will run only when it's hot and you don't have to be there to turn it off on a cooler day. I built an outdoor plastic electrical enclosure for the thermostat and the other electrical connections. I also ran the power from a ground fault breaker. The downside of that is that it need an unshared neutral for that circuit. The up-front cost of this system was the other downside, but it is very accurate and will run at any temp. you desire.
