Brian,
Build up don't dig down. If you excavate the hole will act like a well and
rot your roots. Myself and Chris Dueck are in hard clay. We put alot of
agricultural gypsum and leaves and build up with topsoil, potting soil and
manure. Chris had his 1056 spilt on him and my 788 also split. So you can
grow them big just need a little more preparation. andrew
