I read something a long time ago ........ something about the amount of seed a pumpkin contains is related to the amount of pollination it gets. The more times its pollinated the more seeds.

The main problem with the genetic aspect is that the 1131 was grown from a
different seed, a Lloyd 935. It was grown right next to the 1190 and
although it was on the vine for 2 weeks longer, it did not contain any
mature seeds. No other 935's or 815's that I know of have done this. Seems
to be more than coincidence or genetics.
Maybe only the pumpkins know for sure.
