I am only a second year Atlantic giant pumpkin  grower. Ive  read all Don

books on how to grow this huge monstrosity. But of all the knowledge I have
acquired I still have a lot of unanswered questions. such as!  When seeds are
planted in peat
pots how does one determine what is ample watering, as well as when they have
been transplanted to their new and final home in the garden. I could really
use some advice from someone. please explain in detail how much, and at what
stages.
this year i prepared a raised bed with a hole one and 1/2ft. deeper than the
raised
part, which is made of 2x12-6x6 ft. square. i used 250lbs chicken manure,
3000lbs of
dark rich top soil, and about 600 lb. of bio-solid compost from our local
landfill.
does this sound like sufficient fertilization? as my first year i only
produced
a 78lbs pumpkin with no knowledge of soil fertility.
