Re: 1000 sq ft. Where to plant?
Greg, What are the side dimensions of your 1,000 square feet?
If it is 30' by 33', center your plant on the 30 ft side and
place it five feet in from the edge. Have the main vine run up
the center of the plot and train the secondaries at 90 degrees
to the main. The main can then run 28' and the secondaries can
go 15' in both directions before hitting the edges of the
patch.
Planting five feet in from the edge of the patch allows the
roots from the main stump growing room in all directions. I
usually train the first few secondaries to curve back behind
the stump to fill in this area and give some more breathing
room between the secondaries.
Good luck,
vince
