RE: Western Canada Newbie Update
In that case, it depends on your existing soil. Without soil testing,
anyone's guess is as good as anyone else's.

I don't think he meant how many yards of top soil will make up a 30 x 30
area a foot deep. I think he wants to know how much top soil to mix with it
so that the soil is well composted.

30'x30'x1'deep/27 = 33.33 cu. Yd. of topsoil. Trust me, I do this for a
living.

WOW, what a response.
Thanks for all the info on my request and for the tons of email I got for
Giant Tomatoes, I kind of figured Giant Pumpkin growers had already been
there and done that.
I hope you all don't mind this off topic and not keeping with
this groups subject but hopefully If I post this I will slow down all the
emails I've been getting.
Just to let you know I am cleaned out on seeds for Giant
Tomatoes this year but if you want to add yourself to my list I will send
you some for next season. I don't sell seeds, you supply the stamp, I give
you the seeds or we can swap for some Giant Pumpkin seeds (1262 Emmons and a
couple 1260 Weir sounds good (ya right eh?)) a good place to try is a
heirloom seed seller for this season go with goliath.
Plus I am putting together a site on How to Grow Giant Tomatoes it is about
50% finished and there is enough
to get you started. The rest will be up in a week or so
If after going to the site you need more info then by all
means e-mail me.

Don't get me wrong I love emails all 98 of them the last time I checked 10
mins ago. But I feel if you take your time to write me, I should as well
give you a reply, but I'm getting
writers cramp and the wife is screaming for me to get off
the computer and spend time with her. (I married her what more does she
want.)
Any ways thanks for the info and I will probably get wrapped
on the knuckles for this off post but I promise I will never do it again...
One last thing I'm trying to figure out how much soil I need
for my now revised pumpkin patch (thanks Dr. Bill) 30'x30'
I want 12" depth. How do I figure out how many yards of top
soil I need. And Peter Paynter (or any one else) is there anything that
makes the stem end seed you sent me better than any other seeds.
Thanks
TTYL
