Dan--those Iowa highlights are interesting and one must wonder if the IA
1000+ can be far away.
On your list of alltime top ten,Bob Ruff has seven.I think this makes him an
"unsung hero".How many states have such an outstanding grower with 7/10 of
the top ten??--AE

WOW!!! when was the last time you saw 2 Iowa fruit in the top ten!!!!
Amazing... Forecasting for the future would say 2002 will be a year we
can say this again ..Both Steve Krug and I would love to say that!!! LOL!!!
More on a realistic note..Recalling 1993 I do belive we had a record
rainfall in june and july and also the summer was quite mild.... I am
sure this played an important role in how things turned out..In
fact....Ruff's 803 was the only pumpkin grown in Iowa that made it to
the 800 pound mark up until 2001 when he finally broke his own record
with a 833# and that has since fallen to Steve Krug's 969 from 2002!!!
