Greg,
If your soil test says everything else is very high, and you need nitrogen only, urea is 46% nitrogen. You would need just a little for it is 3 times stronger in nitrogen than a regular fertilizer blend. The little white prills you see in a granular fertilizer are usually urea. I apply it to my commercial pumpkin fields, usually at a rate of about 75 poundsN per acre as a side dressing as the vines are crawling. Because urea is 46%N, I apply about 150 pounds per acre or about 75lbs pure N. Most fertilizers have a slight acidiying effect, however, an application like this will not change acidity much.If the pH of your soil is acidic, add some limestone.
