My 2 cents (heavily discounted in world financial markets)...
It seems to me there are only a few categories of pumpkins that were unofficial: those with genetic flaws; those with physical flaws; those with no flaws.
A genetic flaw would include potentially inherited things as stem splits, Dill rings, abnormal coloration, etc.
A physical flaw would indicate damage to the pumpkin that precludes it from being eligible in a weighoff. This flaw would include holes and animal bites.
The "no flaw" flaw (say that 5 times fast) would indicate that the pumpkin was a secondary pumpkin or not entered into any weighoff.
There are, probably, other categories of "flaws", as well. Beyond general categorizing, I don't think tagging a pumpkin with further info would be fruitful. Just knowing that a pumpkin has a "flaw" should direct the grower to the AGGC immediately. There, the grower can find out all the particulars.
