Glennie Boy:
In keeping with your suggestion to increase the
descriptions
how about "UGGH" for squash.

My two cents.....UOWF is not
specific enough. If your going through the hassel of ID'ing the fruit you
might as well say why its UOW or EXH.....Flawed is too general and somewhat
subjective....would a pumpkin with too much green to be a "pumpkin" be
considered "flawed"? So would say yes. A fruit might be EXH only because the
grower was afraid it would be judged a squash.....I propose UOW (split).
....UOW(HOLE).....EXH(split)....etc.......EXH (color or squashy)......An
otherwise great fruit that matured early due to a too early start and happens
to be softening would not be "flawed" in my opinion...just "old"....but at a
contest according to Mike's proposal it would be "flawed"...casting a bad
Karma on the seed when its not warranted or a concern for future growers.
I always prefer MORE information to LESS information.....and , as a
grower of smaller fruit with squashy background , I am always looking to
even the score with seed selection...meaning its too easy for someone to
eliminate a seed by pidgeon-holing...more info is better............just my
two cents.
