Cool average daytime temperature slows warm weather plants in Alaska.  When
average temperature is 60  the 80 degree plants suffer.  Long daylight
really helps but temperature has more influence.  The big pumpkin was grown
in a greenhouse in Homer, Alaska and my hat is off to his success.  I lived
near Anchorage for some year.
