While 2,4-D is toxic to pumpkins, it has to hit them to cause damage. Ester formulations can volatize at temps over 80*. Amine formulations do not volatilize at all, so they're safer during warm weather.
Round up (if damage to perennial grasses in the pasture is acceptable) is the safest of all.
But apply anything you decide at low pressure on a still day.
