Kevin,
First, Thanks for answering my post. You were the only one to do so.
I still have a zillion questions, like what are the numbers after the
seed (the weight of the parent pumpkin?)
And the name I assume is the grower? And why would someone tell me to
use raw milk on my plants? Maybe because cow's milk has a lot of growth
hormone in it to grow a calf into a cow in such a short time? And when
do I start my seeds? I plan to use horse manure/straw in my bed. And
no, I didn't prepare a bed last year(didn't know I had to!) so my
pumpkin will just have to deal with my short comings! I don't have
acres, but I desperately want to grow a pumpkin bigger than I can buy!
:) (don't you all!)
So what would be a good Generic seed to start with. I looked at the
site you said, but I don't understand why one would be better than any
other.
Enough of your time,
Thanks for listening!
And if I had any seeds I'd be willing to send you all you could want!
Just starting so , could you wait a couple years and I'll trade with
you!

Subject: Where Did the seeds go ????
Hi List
Well here it goes again !! I only ended up with one confirmed trade for
the
940 Mombert 00 seed I really wanted and am a little frustrated !!! Here
is a
question that will be hard to answer and even talk about but here it
goes !!!
Seeds all have POTENTIAL and if you don't have a seed it is worth
more to
you then if you have several of those seeds. BUT it really is
frustrating if
you are asking for a fair trade for say a 547 Kournikakis or a 758.5
Kolb and
you get responses that simply state ..... You have a 705 Stelts, 846
Calai ,
723 Bobier or 935 Lloyd we can talk...... Or something to that
respects.. I
Just don't get it ...... I have an incredible amount of seeds and 99% I
will
trade or GIVE away if I know they will get grown what happened to that
!!!!
We Horde the seeds and then will only let one squeeze out of our fingers
if
you are willing to get the HOTTEST seeds of all time !!
I know there is no Ranking System like "A list seed" or "B list
Seed" but
still if the seed is going to sit and ROT in your archive what good does
that
do for ANY of the growers that spent the time studying the genetics and
got
up in the morning to make the pollination happen.
All I am saying is Bob Troy and I am growing close to 35 plants next
year
some "TOP A LIST" that I got FROM FRIENDS and some older "A list" seeds
But
more important the top potential NEW seeds like the 1178 Rivard and it
is
really SAD to think Bob is going to be getting up every morning to
pollinate
those pumpkins just to have someone down the line say No you can't have
that
seed unless you can find a 935 Lloyd when they got it for a friendly
trade
and then let it ROT in there Archive! I think Bob and I may just let all
of
the 35 Plants including the 712 Kuhn, 790 Daletas, 845 Bobier, 1064.5
Needham, 455.4 Andrews, 990 Hebb, 975 Zehr, 730 Stellpflug, 1018 Black,
895.5
Hester*, 703 Smith*, 922 Emmons, 940 Mombert 00, 600.5 Gregory, and Many
Many
More go open pollination !!! I don't know what is more a sin open
pollinating them and not giving out the seeds or letting them rot in the
Archive. I don't know I guess I am just venting but there are some good
points hid in this email !!! Hope you all have a WONDERFUL 2003 Season
!!!
