Re: temps.


I think it's not really what it can stand, but what long term damage it
might do. In past years I've started seeds a little to early (I was using
covers ). And while the young seedlings didn't die from the cold temps. they
did grow slower & didn't have the same fuller look of seedlings that were
started a few weeks later.
 I've always kept records of the plants growth year after year & one thing
seems to keep showing up, If a seed was started May 1st & kept protected
from the cold or If a seed was started May 21st when the ground was much
warmer & the days were warmer by July 15th both plants were at the same
stage of growth with the only exception being that the later started plant
looked fuller,thicker & healthier.
 So what I concluded was no matter what I did to make the plant feel warmer
there was no substitute for the real thing & now I start all my plants after
May 18th..
