From what I've observed, cloches don't help with low overnight temps,
or maybe they help very little. I'm talking about clear plastic... if you are
anywhere below 40 degrees, you will need to use a blanket in addition
to the cloche to protect the plants, and/or have another heat source.
Cloches enhance heating during the daytime, a lot! But at night they fall to ambient temperature.
