RE: new guy

Ray Waterman's local to you too...so am I, though I'm not really well known in
the pumpkin growing sport. Since I don't have a truck to bring in compost &
manure, if you ate your chickens & chained up your dog, I have some better
seeds for you to try than Gurney's, an 845 Nesbitt x 603.5 Muller--(and v.
versa)-- good genetics & coloring. Plus some others...

Subject: new guy

   Hi everyone,
I'm new to the list and pumpkin growing . I tried growing them 2 years in a
row but first time the chickens ate them and the next time the dog scratched
at
the manure and killed the plants.
I'm reading 'How to grow world class giant pumpkins' by Don Langevin and I
see a local guy in here by the name of Jerry McGowan, anybody know him?
This year I'm trying Conneticut field and some of Gurneys 'Atlantic
Giants'.
Any good advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Gene
