Ontario Giant Vegetable Growers Association

Hi ALL

On Saturday afternoon a group of about 12-15 Ontario Pumpkin Growers met
during the International Seminar. This group included Al & Sharon Eaton,
Chris & John Lyons, Drew Papez, Dave McCallum, Morgan Inglis, Bob McKenzie,
Phil Joynson, Adrian Gervais, Russ Landry, others and myself. The purpose of
this meeting was to see if there was enough interest in forming an Ontario
Pumpkin & Giant Veg. Growers Club. During this meeting it was decided to
appoint a committee to proceed with this venture. I was asked to chair this
panel, along with the help of my wife Jane (Sec & Tres), Drew Papez
(Southern Region), Glen Cheam (Eastern Region), Russ Landry (Central Region)
and maybe Doug Court (Western Region). We are looking for your suggestions
on club policies and events. Your input is very important to us. Send any
suggestions to me and I will present them to the committee. Also, we are
looking to get some help with setting up a web site, logo and name. I will
be contacting Drew, Glen & Russ to try and set up a meeting soon. Details
will be announced as soon as we can. Drew Papez announced that Niagaras
weigh-off date would be changed to another weekend. This will give growers
another venue to weigh in their other fruits. We hope that you will join us
in this venture to keep Ontario on top of the pumpkin growing community.
