Idea: Pumpkins Silly Question

My biggest problem is getting it turned as the area ha not been used for
nearly 25 years... I think it would be nearly counter productive to till up
the area in time and money.  My theory on auguring the area for the hills
and then mulching it very heavily; I have a great deal of desire to learn
more about no-till farming and low-till farming....  I just don't want to
rip out all the trees.  

 

 

My plan is to auger out the hole for the seedling and then fill it with
manure and compost, mulch around it with newspaper and leaves out about 10FT
per plant.
