Duncan,
Flew over Hawaii got gas in Bali and somehow wound up in Uncle Bill's turf,
Vancouver B.C.
As you noted most everyone in the Northern California Area Plants between
May 8 and May 15 or there abouts. Again, I think this really depends on
your local growing conditions.
Here in California it is very hot so the growing season is fast, in your
area it is very cool, subsequently a long and slow growing period, so you
need to start much sooner. Best bet would be to find a heavy hitter in the
general area you live and go pick his/her brain!
Also, Ray Waterman's Chart Posted on Dan's Page is very helpful. As Ray
points out, if you count backwards from the date you would like to harvest
your Giant, based on his
calculations of seed start to harvest, I think you may arrive at your own
conclusion!
