Steve,

I Apologize to the group for this one, sorry Tim I am giving up our
patented secret! If you clear off the top of their mound and take a good
whiz down their hole and in the general area they will not return. It may
take a second pass, only once,  but this does work. Obviously this is only
effective on small areas, acreage would be impossible, unless you are a
very heavy beer drinker!
