   Pumpkin wicking and milk feeding is the WORLD'S GREATEST WIVES TALE.
Cutting a vine open will not do anything except damage the phloem and xylem
tubes that transmit water, minerals and food to the plant. Xylem are the
water and mineral transporting tubes from the roots and phloem tubes ( not
exactly tubes, but you can think of them that way) transport food from the
leaves. Most of the liquid is taken up through the root hairs and transmitted
by the xylem....don't cut them.
