An alternative to Netscape and Microsoft New "Opera" web browser is
building big following
http://www.operasoftware.com
Had it with all the hype and hassle from the Big Boys of Cyberspace? The
nasty war of words between Microsoft and Netscape over their web
browsers, combined with the Justice Department's investigation into Bill
Gates' Internet Explorer, would make you think there are only two
companies slugging it out. PC Mike Wendland has found a new browser
that... quietly... has been building a huge following on the 'Net. In
this
week's High Tech Talk, Mike introduces us to "Opera." One of the
smallest but fastest browsers out there, it takes up less than 2 Megs
and
can be downloaded in minutes. That's why for many, it has become a very
attractive alternative to market leaders Netscape and Microsoft, whose
overstuffed web browsers hog up to 10-plus Megs of hard drive space and
can take hours to download. You can link right to the Opera site from
Mike's report.
