Way off Weigh Off

Lets make sure this year that any pumpkin grower that works hard enough
to be able to bring a pumpkin to a weigh-off comes away with something
to show for it. Some come hundreds of miles with their pumpkins, so what
if they are not the biggest, to GPC weigh-offs and come away with out
even a piece of paper with an official weight on it. The least we can do
for our fellow pumpkin growers is let them leave a weigh-off with some
sort of momento, a certificate, a ribbon, something to show for all
there hard work. Some GPC sites do this but not all. It should be
standard operation in respect for our growers. To let you know how
important this is to a pumpkin grower a know of a certain gentleman from
Moraga, I won't mention his name, that received a handsome check for his
rather large pumpkin from his weigh-off site, which he said was run
beautifully. But he lamented to me that was it. Nothing to hang on a
wall, place in a trophy case, put in a frame, to remind him of his
accomplishment.
By his tone I could sense that this is the more important then the award
of money. I don't think that it is too late to correct this. And I
apologize if I spoke out without getting his permission first. I could
not have taken no for an answer. We have some unfinished work to do.
