     from plant date to final growth is generaly between 150 - 190
     days depending on many factors. what i do is pick the date that i want 
     to pick my pumpkin and count back 150 days and there is my planting 
     date. i don't start any earlier than that due to the climate here in 
     minnesota is too cold to start any earlier. also the longer you can 
     keep the pumpkin on the vine in the fall the better. they seem to stay 
     healthy as long as they are on the vine. i pick mine at the begining 
     of oct every year to bring to the weigh-off and have no problem 
     keeping them untill halloween.

I am going to ask a simple question...obviously I am a first time AG 
grower....
     
I recieved my long awaited for seeds the other day (PP seed company I 
think) and on the package it says 190 days (i think it said  190, it may 
have said 160) to maturation.  Is that climate driven, or is it 190 days 
everywhere? Also, in planning my end date, how long will the pumpkin be 
good after maturation? (i.e. if I plan to have a final product on Oct 1, 
will it make it to Halloween?)
