Newbie...


Hi All,

Just joined the list. We've finally bought a house that has a very
decent sized yard compared to the duplex we were living in. I've decided
with my 10 year old daughter to have some fun this year and try to grow
some decent sized pumpkins.  I've germinated some Atlantic Giant seeds
as well as a few Big Max.  I find it interesting that the leaves of the
Big Max are much larger than the Atlantic Giants - is that to be expected?

Anyway - for germinating the Atlantic seeds, I placed them in a cleaned
out Yogurt cup filled with vermiculite.  I moistened it up a little and then
put the lid on it and left it on top of my computer monitor here at work.
Within two days they had germinated and had their two leaves unfurled - 
I thought that was pretty good time!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the discussions on this group.  

Btw, I'm in San Jose - Ca - about 30 miles from Half Moon Bay.
