Glen,
It would really take a concerted breeding effort to straighten these
pumpkins out. It is shear luck when a pumpkin repeats a characteristic. They
are so messed up genetically. It would take a minimum of 5 years of inbreeding
and selecting to straighten one out. I inbred my 567 mombert seed in 1996 and
only about half repeated the characteristics I was looking for. In 1997 my
inbred mombert looked like a pickle while a 9 year old apprentice of mine had
a true to type specimen. It can be done but few people have the time space or
desire to take on the project.
