Average high 75-80, average low 60 or so. Wow. That really caught me
off guard. I had thought that the high temperatures were higher than
that. But then again, I'm probably forgetting that the key word here is
AVERAGE. A couple of cold days can really lower the average. I wonder
what the typical (the MEAN) day is like? 85 degrees? I find this
interesting because I grow where the typical day is 92 degrees. I'm
thinking that getting that temperature down is going to be the most
important thing I do this year. Some of you guys who obviously know what
you're talking about have suggested the following: Running sprinklers
almost continuously on really hot days, running misters, and building a
lattice over the patch for partial shade. Any other ideas out there for
getting the temp down a bit? I've heard of growing a stalk of corn every
4 feet (on a grid pattern). Is there any type of nearly transparent
cloth that would let in essential sun rays but keep the temp. down a bit?
The other thing that I find interesting is the low temperatures, which
are really quite low, aren't they? I thought pumpkins did better with
higher lows. INTERESTING, GARY. THANKS
