Greetings all you pumpkin type people out there. It is time for the first of
March Oregon Update, Wahooooo!!! It is only semi-exciting, but what the heck,
so am I. Here is the low down...
First of all, there is a new site now. Hold on to your hats.
Site Zero...All that remains is the sprinkler here. Completed so far this
year is vegetation removal, grape trim, kiwi trim, lime added, cow manure
added, calcium nitrate added, ammonium sulfate added, kocide (fungicide
copper) added, ammonium nitrate added, triple super phosphate added, urea
added, epsom salt added, meister slow release 14-14-14 added, meister slow
release 21-8-12 added, Wil-gro water soluable slow release added, wilco
16-16-16 plus boron added, and Potting soil added (1 pickup load). All sites
have received the same additives, only the ammounts of the trace elements are
different between the sites according to the soil samples.
Site Zero.5... I decided to go ahead and make another site in between sites
zero and #1. It is roughly 30 x 15 feet and will make an excellent site for a
new 1998 seed to try out. This site needs a sprinkler.
Site #1... Ready to go.
Site #2... Ready to go.
Site #3... Erichs site, he has something up his sleeve. I think he has been
getting some pumpkin seeds and is going to try and beat me in my own patch. I
told him he will have to grow a 1200 pounder to do it though.
Site #4... Ready to go.
Site #5... Ready to go, and looks very nice, no, very very nice.
Site #6... Ready to go. The stump from hell is nothing but a picture and a
bad memory now. I pumped this site up pretty good with fertilizer and potting
soil, so we shall see.
Site #7... Ready to go. This site really looks good too.
Site #P-1... Ready to go. No more stump.
Site #P-2... Ready to go. No more stump.
Overall, the last of the projects is to hook up the automated sprinkler
system. It has been a long winter and I have logged over 200 man hours in the
patch since Jan. 1st. I sure hope it all pays off.
Take Care,
Brett The Pumpkinguru Hester
