Kelp Meal

Many people have noted the benefits of kelp meal as an additive.
Therefore, I thought I might as well try it this year, so I bought
Glorious Garden brand 1-.4-1 kelp meal in a 50lb. bag (the stuff is
not cheap). I keep looking at the bag, I have been hoping it would
magically apply itself to the garden, yet I doubt that will happen. To
those advanced growers please teach this old dog a new trick. At what
rate should I apply?, When should I apply? Should I use it as a side
dressing?
Side note***my grandson thinks the bag of kelp is better than the bag
of green sand and the bag of peat moss to sit on. Therefore, I'm going
out to the garage to sit on the bag of kelp and reflect for awhile.
