Water Pumps and holding tanks

I'd like to put together a holding tank/pump setup that can feed my
watering system. Any ideas for a good, cheap holding tank? I want
something I can paint black to solar heat the water. I was thinking of a
sawed off water heater, which (conveniently) is already plumbed.
If I am going to run an impact sprinkler off of this pump, the pump will
need to produce normal household pressure - isn't that c. 50 PSI? Will
the $200 Home Depot version do it?
