Wayne,
I am not sure what can be done, but unfortunately our deal was in part a bad
one too. The #827 Hollands that came my way were unfortunately not 827
Hollands. I showed them to Joel and he agreed that they were definately not
his seed. I wasn't sure what to do, but after talking with the other growers
they said I should at least warn you that its happening. If at all possible,
I will send you back those two seeds to get at least one of mine back. That
way you can stuff them where the sun doesn't shine in the person you got them
from. I usually don't get overly upset about things, but something needs to
be done. I don't know who sent you those 827's, but they need to know that
they will be marked for exile from any and all who believe in honesty,
integrity and honor. I write this note not in private to you Wayne, but to
the whole group. This is not a shot at you Wayne, but to the one who passed
the fake 827's and others I have come to find out including a fake 567.5
Mombert. I am fairly upset about this whole thing, even more so than when my
top 4 pumpkins all went down last year, and on behalf of the more experienced
growers, please cease this practice.
There, I said my peace, I do not want to start a crappy ordeal, for 99.9% of
all seeds I have recieved from people have been authentic, and I will continue
to be as generous and trusting as ever with other growers around the world.
Growing giant pumpkins is an excellent passtime, and the minute people start
selling falsehoods on the more serious aspects of the hobby, it is the minute
our grand sport will cease to be excellent.
