Followup ?900lb OH pumpkin

I just spoke with one of the workers from Zehner's Market.  He said they
had an 830+ lber in '97 and the one from '98 was a little bigger around
900lbs.  He did no know who the grower was.  When I asked him if he knew
if it came from Ohio he said as far as he knows it did and made some
mention about the Ohio Growers association.  I'm not sure what he meant
by that but he did tell me to call tommorrow around noon to talk to Bill
(Zehner) about the pumpkin and it's source.  He said they may be able to
provide some seeds (if anyone is interested, depending on the number I
receive).  I'll keep you posted tommorrow afternoon as to what I hear.

PS -  One interesting thing came out of the conversation.  After
discussing the growing of giant pumpkins and mentioning about the
weighoffs, organizations and the participants in this pumpkin list he
told me that they would be interested in holding a WEIGHOFF at their
festival.  It runs every weekend from the end of Sept. until Halloween,
with many different activities and hundreds of acres of pumpkins, corn
mazes etc.  He told me if I was interested in organizing something they
would be glad to sponsor it.  I told him that the weighoffs for GPC&WPC
are on the 1st Sat of Oct.  He suggested holding it the 2nd WEEKEND of
Oct.  If anyone in the PA  or surrounding, area would be interested in a
second chance weighoff the week after the GPC&WPC I'll GLADLY work on
arranging it.  I think it would be a great chance for us to display our
"almost made it" pumpkins!  I'll work on sponsors from the local area
and arranging the trophies, prize money etc with Zehner's!!!!-------
