i had a question about seed starting. First, after much speculation
on wether to plant pointed side down, or flat, i decided to do a little
experiment of my own. Planted 2 seeds, one flat, the other pointed side
down. Didn't file them at all. The flat one came up first after 6 days,
the pointed side down seed still has yet to show itself, probably
tommorrow. Anyway, my question is this; when everybody talks about "filing
the edges", what exactly are they talking about? Do you just file the
pointed end to enlarge the hole in the bottom of the seed to let more water
in? or are you filing around the entire seed coat to make it easier for
the seedling to break through? I haven't tried either method as of yet,
i've just planted the seeds and they've sprouted fine for me, but i was
wondering if there was a better way?
Also, if anyone out there wants some seeds, i have some Armstrong
301's left. They're self pollinated mombert 750's, produced a really round
and orange fruit. I grew it in an 8' X 8' area. Anyone interested send me
a private email.
