1) If my records are correct the 946.5 was the female parent for both the
1010 MacKenzie 1998 and the 1056.5 Stellpflug 1998, plus there are other 700
and 800 pounders that can be traced to the 946.5

2) Half Moon Bay, Ca (an easy trip for PNW growers) pays the winner
$5/lb...thus $80 investment
and a 1000 lb pumpkin could turn that $80 investment into $5000. $80 IS a
lot for a seed, but then there are seeds, and then there are SEEDS. If Kirk
Mombert were to offer a 567.5 for bid I would speculate that the Opening bid
might exceed $80.

) And then the most important reason, at least for me, Beat Brett at bidding
as it may be the only thing I beat him at all season.

{Note Mike's carefully strategy, make his competitor believe he has the
upper hand and then move in with an undisclosed load of mushroom compost and
win all the west coast contests, thus proving that with mushroom compost you
can not only be a winner, but you can be a fungi too :-)}
