this and that
YO All,
To David Robinson 85 degrees + or - a couple is what I keep to.Never lost one yet.
To nbuntrock(sorry I dont know your earth name) I put 10lbs in an area of 20x10ft to start and more outside as the roots get there.Calcium Nitrate releases nitrogen for plants when the ground is cold better than any other fertilizer, and it wont burn the roots.Good for early and late season.hope this helps.
To Randy Banderob,I use nothing but pure horse manure and woodshavings, fresh at that every year. This year I dug out an area 20ftx10ftx3ft deep.Filled with horse manure to a depth of 1ft and covered with soil.this has warmed the soil to 78 degrees so far and I will plant my seedling in it in the next 2 days.at the end of the season it will be dug out again and the process repeated. The ground gets better each year this way.I dig all this out by hand as I have no tractor.I have never burnt any roots using pure fresh manure but nobody ever beleives me.Who cares,it works for me.
ALUN ENGLAND
P.S
Good luck to all this season.
