Question

Last Halloween someone busted my pumpkin on my front porch. I naturally
swept the seeds into my flower bed then forgot about it. In January I
noticed numerous plants sprouting. I finally figured out that it was the
pumpkin seeds that took root.

I pulled all but two plants and they have grown and started to vine. They
are at the flower stage. This is new to me since I know nothing of
pumpkins. I've allowed it to grow. I fear it will take over and strangle
my flowers that I worked so hard to nurture. That's okay..it seems like fun
to do this pumpkin thing. My question is how long will this vine grow and
is it possible to position it so that it will not strangle my flowers? When
will I see signs of a pumpkin? I live in the DFW, TX area...it gets very
hot during the summer...will it survive under these conditions?
