Re: mycorrhizal innoculants

Concearing mycorrhizal spores, I am trying some this year. I talked to a
knowledgeable horticulture rep, and he warned that the most important thing is
finding a source that gives good pure spores that are of a beneficial species.
I am not sure if the stuff I am using is good, but I will give it a try. I
have inoculated the transplants, and have sprinkled it under the nodes as I
bury vines. My original motivation for using it is that I have phosphorus
levels in my soil that are too high for the plants to be able to take up any,
also accompanied by not enough zinc. Through using lots of fertilizer and
fungicides, I fear that I may have killed off my natural population of fungus,
thus I will be trying to re-populate. I would be interested in any
information that may be available concearing the use of fungicides, and their
effect on the mycorrhizal fungus. Also, what methods have others used in
applying the spores? I plan to try and put them in contact with every root as
it begins forming even though this will take more time and be more difficult.
I know there are others that will be working with this, hope we can all
compare notes, soil and tissue tests at the end of the season.
