Judy...yellow spots and streaks on young plants have been an early season
topic for all three years I've been monitoring this list. I believe if you
peruse the archives and search "yellow spots" or "spots" or "yellow" in the
April,May,or June months the current theories will be explained. (Disregard
any reference to "yellow streak"as it refers to certain pumpkin purists
AFRAID to grow a squash)(no names). I believe the majority of the "opinions
in the know" are that its probably a genetic thing and usually doesn't mean
anything at all. If you don't have holes in the middle of the yellow spots
then its not likely fertilizer granules landing on the leaves damage. If the
whole leaf isn't crinkled up or extra wavy in appearance then its not likely
early season diazinon or hot day sevin damage.
Chances are they also appear occaisionally throughout the entire season but
we're just too busy with the fruits and all the work that we don't notice
them. In conclusion....some plants get'm ...some plants don't.Some plants
have yellow vines...some green....some squash are green...some
orange.........some growers get it...some don't........and you were right
about questioning that John guy....he's just a little wierd ....... ; )
