Re: Cross-pollination, pumpkins & peppers

Hi everyone

Three years ago I planted serrano and cayenne peppers in the same raised bed.
An entire side of one of the cayenne pepper plants grew peppers that were a
cross between the two. Where the serrano is a short stubby pepper and the
cayenne a long finger shaped, the result was a pepper twice as long as the
serrano but only half the size of a cayenne. It was smooth skinned unlike the
cayenne's wrinkled appearance. The next year I planted seeds from this fruit
and they grew to be the same in appearnce.
