hot peppers cont'd

Here is the most recent theory on the sweet pepper / hot pepper
controversy:

The reason why hot pepper plants spread their heat to neighbouring
pepper plants is beacuse their roots entwine. Because the plants are of
a similar genetic makeup, the root systems (and essentially the plants)
become one and share everything.

This would explain why only pepper plants planted directly beside one
another exhange traits while pepper plants planted further apart (yet
close enough for cross-pollination) remain distinct.

Makes sense to me.

On the question of whether or not Milkweed is a noxious plant, the
answer is... maybe. In my area, milkweed is a noxious weed because the
local bylaw says it is and must be removed from all properties by June
1st. However, each district has its own list of noxious weeds...
contact your local government and they can provide the list to you.
(that being said I also mow around a few milkweeds on my property as I
do for native daisies, lupins, violas, etc. I like all plants)

On the question of whether Steve is an obnoxious gardener the answer
is... maybe. In my area, anyone going into a garden nursery and asking
for milkweed plants by their scientific name is akin to walking into a
hardware store and asking for a butter churn in Portugese.

Of all the times I laugh at the funny comments and jabs I read on this
list, I laugh the hardest at Steve's why-does-everyone-pick-on-me
retorts. The funny part is, he really doesn't see it! He must be a
riot to live with.
