Rock,

Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. I have been busy getting
the patch ready, starting seeds, building a cradle,
building a cold frame..... Don't worry the cradle is not for the next
Vermonster. We are expecting our first baby in the middle of November.
Anybody know any good pumpkin related names?

OK... Here is the stats on the "VERMONSTER": Officially it is the 1999
Nelson 566.6. It was grown from P and P Seed's "One Ton Cross". It was
open pollinated. I self pollinated it and also used pollen from one of P
and P's 800+ plants. I grew an unofficial 398 pounder on the same plant
and
 a 458 and 365 from the 800+ seed.

The "VERMONSTER" was weighed at Topsfield. I picked it a week earlier and
brought it to the Lennoxville, Quebec weigh-off where it weighed 576
pounds. I believe that is what it weighed, but on October 2nd at
Topsfield
it was 566.6...anybody have any comments?

If anybody wants seeds from any of my pumpkins you can e-mail me privately:

 Good luck,

 Dan in Vermont
