Scouts for AGs
I got a peek at the boys’ growing journals at the Cub Scout meeting last
night. I wish you could have seen the drawing in one journal of the boys
taking the soil sample for a soil test. First, TJ read a page from his
journal about having the chance to select the seeds the boys will grow
in their GREAT PUMPKIN EXPERIMENT. I had offered them seeds from the
generous growers who had sent seeds to me:
896 Wells
753 Paynter 2000
663 Kennedy 2000
500 Reynolds 2000 (801 Stelts x 835 McIntyre)
500 Reynolds 2000 (760 Patrick x 929 Kuhn)
500 Reynolds 2000 (760 Patrick x 4-500 Reynolds)
576 Michalec
561 Wells
500 Reynolds 2000 (567.4 Wallace x 835 McIntyre)
526.5 Michalec
520 G Tanner
519 Wells
494 Wells
483 Wells
379 Wells
365 G Tanner
356 Wells (which grew a 408 pounder that weighed 14 percent heavy)
280 Wells
224 Wells
Congratulations and much thanks to Alan Reynolds and Bob Wells! While I
had thought the boys would simply pick seeds from the two biggest
pumpkins, they surprised me. TJ chose the 500 Reynolds 2000 (801 Stelts
x 835 McIntyre) and the 356 Wells. He finished the page by carefully
printing: I LIKE THE STELTS. Look out, punkin growers, here come the
Scouts!
