"Oh Crystal Ball...."  ............Kathie, we don't know what condition the
plant is in or how it was affected so a educated  guess is all we can give
you......if it died you would have said so, so Im guessing it will survive.
Survive to do what? Some evidence suggests that excessive heat/stress on the
plant will cause an increased occurance of multiple vining...something to
look for. If you have al;ternates you may consider them ,as perhaps this bout
with heat wont kill the plant, but it may not be as productive or happy as
the ones that were chillin....so to speak.
I use saran wrap as a wind protector for the young'ns.....I drive 4-5-6
stakes in a circle of 4 foot diameter around the seedling and wrap the saran
around three times making sure it goes from the groung to the top of the
,...say...2.5 feet tall exposed stakes.......I then adjust the saran to the
daily conditions....pull up from the bottom a few/couple inches for bottom
ventilation on hot days....scrunch the top down a bit when seedlings are
small and temps are hot....at critical times(just as its starting to reach
out to vine and just before it snaps off in the wind) I extend the saran up a
bit for extra protection and also add a few "bamboo sticks" aka "australian
cow wackers" to the left and right of the plant so that if the wind does get
in there, the plant will only swing so far and it wont flop over broken...
Keep in mind that the saran hut is open at the top for air flow....additional
slits in each area between the stakes, from stake to stake can be added for
even more flow. Stakes can be reset further appart as plants grow and saran
is available in the kitchen (I actually use the construction saran wrap...the
kind they use to bundle pallets o'stuff at lumberyards and concrete block
plants.)  Just remember to keep the saran away from the leaves...it can
scorch the leaves and if they're that close, then there's not enough air
circulation.........I throw a tarp/blanket over top at night..........hope
this helps......Glenn A.
