Here's a quote from a book I'm reading and my thought-provoking question to
the list :
" Causes of Bee Poisoning": Bees collection insecticidal dusts with pollen
(Penncap-M and Sevin are especially dangerous because they may be stored with
pollen in the hive and later fed to brood and newly emerged workers)
Question : How about systemic insecticides ? Some of us use systemics so
we're not spraying all the good bugs/children/nieghbors.....but are we
secretly killing off the bees anyway? When we spray in early morning or
evening when bees are gone--are we actually doing and help ? Is there poison
in the pollen as there is in the vines/leaves ?......an interesting
angle---would be interesting if anyone could elaborate on
this....thanks....Glenn
