Re: This that and the other thing
The Woodchuck is back and he stole the bait from the Hav-a-Heart
trap again last night just like he did last year! I won't kill him, but I'm
trying to evict him without going to court. (the lawyer wanted to much
money). This one is smart. I caught all his cousins last year, but he
was still smiling at me when I pulled all the vines out last fall.
Alan, a tip for you whistle pig problem... don't put the bait where
he can get to it. Place the bait on the ground, lots of it, and set
the trap so that it is UNDER the trip pad. It's okay to leave a few
small pieces that he can get to as a trail into the trap but make him dig
for the main stash. His digging action around the pad will trip it.
I use cantaloupe and put just the seeds and some juice on the pad itself
- that will get their attention. Also, if you have an option of setting
one or both ends of the trap, I'd go for opening both ends. My favorite
trap is the double end model made by Safeguard. I'm an animal control
officer and these tip work well for dogs and feral cats too! Good
luck, I'm down 5, 2 left to go. I just resorted to trapping, too
hard to pick off with the rifle from the upstairs window! Jetta
