Re: everything has just stopped

too hot, don't do it, that's what i'd say.  The plant will soon catch up when the sun shines again i believe it is photosynthesis rather than heat that slowed the growth, it's probably developing a nice root system right now.  instead of an infra-red why not just try a traditional space heater that uses parafin or something, i reckon that would work well in a coldframe.  Just my 2 pence

I'd be real cautious with the 250 watt bulb.  I used the 150 watt last year.
One thing I didn't mention was that I had the light above my cold frame and I
also didn't have any ventialtion space on that first day.  That could be why
the temp got so high.

If I recall correctly, It finally worked well when I had the light about 2
feet above the cold frame.  The top of the cold frame was about one foot
above the soil (it was a short cold frame because I did a mound that looked
like a volcano....dug out in the middle about 10 inches down to where the
seeds were actually planted).

The total distance (that worked well) from the light bulb (shining through
the top of the cold frame) to the soil surface where the seeds were buried
was about 3.75 feet.

Hope this info helps.............be careful !!!
